Eleven of us in a van, five children included, set out early today to visit the oldest world's oldest active ocean-going passenger ship, the MV Doulos. No one could hide their excitement especially the little ones. My olders kids are mor ethan excited because they still remember the last time they went on the ship in 2001.
It was a hot sunny day and we were not allowed to park inside the dock area and the parking lot was about a 100 meters away! If you have tried walking on the pier before without a comfortable shade, then you know it wasn't really a picnic. The sun was glaring hard on us. Thankfully, I didn't have to carry my li'lest one as her uncles alternately carried her even on their shoulders. Must be the view from up there that made her behaved well.
We helped ourselves to loads of books. But it was very humid and the thirst made it worst. Tired but happy, the kids waited while their moms did some bookhunting.

I got some new good classics, a copy of The Hinds Feet in High Places (ooh, this will be a good read aloud for devotion), lovely 2007 calendars with horses and dolphins, a scale model of MV Doulos for assembly, some nice Christian audio tapes (the cd titles weren't as good) and small books for the kids.
My children love MV Doulos. We surely wouldn't miss a visit when they dock in Manila and if we are also in the neighborhood =). My dd has set it inher heart to volunteer her service when she turns 18. What a wonderful dream! I would support her to do it.
Here are some pictures taken in 2001. They were just 2 of them then, 5 and 4 year olds.

They have grown as you can see in this picture taken with the family in January 2007
